Reflections on the words of Jesus (in red)

Archive for the month “May, 2012”

Matthew 5:5
“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”

Sometimes we use shyness as an excuse to isolate ourselves, but the Accuser uses isolation to twist us inward to create a destructive self-focus.

Humility is not the same as shyness and meekness is not an excuse to remove yourself from participation in the life God is showing you.

An honest appraisal of oneself, a truthful understanding of your relationship to others and the divine, the ability to say, “I was wrong and you were right”, a teachable attitude before God and others, a listener…

What will you gain? You will understand the true nature of yourself and your existence, you will know your identity, you will inherit your meaning and direction as you walk the path… All these things will be added to you.

Listen, love, learn and be blessed!

Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”

Life in the field of time and space is filled with what appear as opposites. God is beyond this, but can break into it at His leisure.

What a thought it is to be comforted by a pure and limitless love that knows no end; and yet, it is often only when we are in deepest pain that we become aware of our access to this kind of comfort.

The Messiah, Jesus, challenges our perception of opposites and transforms defeat into victory, death into life, persecution into joy, mourning into dancing.

This is not a concept or a state of mind, this is the reality of God breaking into to our world through Christ.

You are comforted, you are loved! See, if you have eyes. Listen, if you have ears… He is showing you, He is speaking to you.

Matthew 5:3
“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Our Western culture engulfs us with choices. When we are children we learn to pick and choose and try to control the world around us to get what we want from it – we manipulate others, parents, friends, all in the name of getting what we want out of life, or getting what we think we deserve.

God cannot be manipulated in this way. As our culture teaches us to fill up our ego, Christ directs us to empty it out. He tells us that we need not be slaves to pride and power – that the true princes and princesses of the kingdom of heaven, those who will inherit God’s ultimate creation, are those whose spirit has been emptied out so that His spirit can fill them to overflowing.

Empty yourself so that you can be full!

“Follow me…”

Matthew 4:19
“Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”

When you decide to begin walking along the Way, the significance of others around you changes. Your eyes start to open and you make out that you are surrounded by spirits in physical bodies, each one of them a center of focus for the Messiah. Helping others to realize what they are and gently and lovingly guiding them toward the Path to be lead by the good shepherd is now part of your daily walk. This is why you must let your light shine… Fish in dark waters are attracted to light. The brighter you shine, the more fish you might attract.

Shine your mirror, you yourself do not generate the light, you reflect.
